Adidas gives NBA star Trae Young his own iconic basketball sneaker

Adidas is reviving its basketball division by teaming up with Atlanta Hawks goaltender Trae Young to introduce a collection of sneakers and apparel of the same name. Young, who became the first player in NBA history with a 45-point game and 10 assists in the conference finals, did so wearing the brand’s new Trae Young 1 shoe, which has makes an excellent marketing campaign ahead of the imminent release of the sneaker.

“Adidas and I have worked closely on my first signature shoe and I can’t wait to finally let the fans grab them. When you wear them, you reproduce that frigid mentality and the whole city of Atlanta, ”Young said in a press release. “This moment is truly special because it reminds the next generation of hoops that by working hard and focusing you can make your dreams come true. Trae Young 1 is a symbol for me.

Cold ice – The Trae Young 1 was developed in close collaboration with Trae himself, designed to support his multi-directional playstyle and the unique ways he moves on the pitch. Inspired by the slip-on model N3XT L3V3L worn by Young in his debut NBA season, the sneakers have a half-slipper construction paired with laces for added support. Adidas Boost cushioning lines the heel for comfort, while a Lightstrike midsole provides lightweight responsiveness. A tongue cover covers the lace unit for added security.

According to a press release, the Trae Young 1 was designed as a tribute to the “ice-cold basketball player mentality and the music, culture and heritage of the city of Atlanta” and will initially be available in five colors: Icee, an icy blue with red accents; Icee Cotton Candy, a gradient of blue and pink; So So Def ATL, a yellow and red, Peachtree, a peach and green, and So So Def, a black and white classic. All of the models pay homage to Young’s youth, whether it’s channeling his favorite snacks or his hometown of Atlanta.

“Trae embodies the mindset of limitless potential – isn’t afraid to let anything get in the way of his ambition, he pushes boundaries, blames critics and creates new space for himself and the game,” said said Eric Wise, CEO of Adidas Basketball. . Hopefully his iconic sneakers will inspire (and help) others to outdo themselves.

Coming soon – The Icee and Icee Cotton Candy variants of the Trae Young 1 shoes will be available on the Adidas website from October 1, alongside a commemorative windbreaker, pants and shorts. The So So Def and So So Def ATL color schemes debut on November 5th. All models are priced at $ 140, with the exception of the Peachtree color scheme which will release November 19 for $ 130.
