Beyonce’s latest Ivy Park x Adidas collection was born and raised in Houston, just like the superstar herself.
The pop star opened up about the inspiration behind her Ivy Park x Adidas Rodeo collection in her September cover interview for Harper’s Bazaar. She explained that the collection was influenced both by her personal history, namely her childhood in Texas, and by American history.
“I grew up going to the Houston rodeo every year,†Beyoncé says. “It was this amazing, diverse and multicultural experience where there was something for every member of the family, including great performances, Houston style fried Snickers and deep fried turkey thighs.”

In addition to being a cultural landmark of the largest city in Texas, many famous Texas-born artists have performed at the Houston Rodeo, including Tejano legend Selena Quintanilla and rapper Megan Thee Stallion.
Beyoncé continues, “We were inspired by the culture and rodeo booty of Houston. We combined classic elements with the sportswear from Ivy Park x Adidas, adding our own twist, monogram denim, leggings and cowhide. “
The singer was also inspired by the story of the black American cowboy. Although black cowboys have been overlooked in American pop culture, their legacy of contributions to Western American culture has resurfaced in recent years, through books like The Cowboys of Compton and movies like Concrete cowboy.
“Many of them were originally called cowhands, who suffered great discrimination and were often forced to work with the worst and most temperamental horses. They took their talents and formed the Soul Circuit. over time, these black rodeos have featured amazing performers and helped us reclaim our place in western history and culture, â€Beyoncé says.

The Ivy Park Rodeo collection takes the superstar’s sportswear line to a creative new level. It is also the first collection of Ivy Park x Adidas to offer children’s clothing. Beyoncé explained that the brand’s expansion to children’s sizes is inspired by her vacation with her eldest daughter Blue Ivy Carter, 9, and twins Sir and Rumi Carter, 4.
“On our family vacations, we like to coordinate our outfits. My kids are usually on set with me for the shoots, and we would find ourselves putting them in extra-extra-small ones so we could match them. So it’s a natural progression for Ivy Park to present a selection of key silhouettes in children’s sizes, â€she said.
