What we say: Heavily limited to just 650 pairs in three colourways, it could be Balenciaga’s new Triple S.
Balenciaga releases its new Runner exclusively at Kith, presenting the model in 650 pairs in three colors: black, white and gray / burgundy. As the name suggests, the Runner draws heavily on running sneakers from the ’90s and 2000s, most notably the ASICS GEL-Kayano 5, which has been branded appropriately on the sides of the shoe to spell out the letter “B” .
The luxury house has also stayed true to the deconstructed, almost demolished trend that we’ve seen take hold in luxury fashion over the past few years, leaving raw cuts, stitches and glue all over its place. new Runner. The sole of the sneaker was adapted from Balenciaga’s Track sneaker, another extravagant take on sportswear.
Balenciaga had huge success with their Triple S a few years ago and struggled to replicate that with later versions of sneakers. The Track and Sock Runner have come close, however, the Runner appears to be the most wearable of the bunch, while still being interesting enough to break your neck when wearing it on the street. Only time will tell, of course, but we’re big fans of Balenciaga’s new Runner and we’re putting our necks in danger by saying it could be the new Triple S.
Look for the Balenciaga Runner which will release via Kith on July 16 for $ 1,095 before arriving in more colourways at various retailers at a later date.
