CLAY COUNTY, Florida. – You just can’t make this stuff up.
A Clay County homeowner said a porch hacker stole items from his porch early Saturday morning — then returned later that day to ask the couple if they’d seen his phone. (Watch the video above)
Kymberli told News4JAX that his family’s home security camera captured footage of the man walking towards the house, located in the Bellaire-Meadowbrook Terrace area of Orange Park, at around 4:50 a.m., where he was been caught rummaging through their belongings. He can be seen grabbing multiple items and even using trash cans to collect items.
“He took a pair of Adidas flip flops, a skateboard and a tool,” Kymberli said.
But running away like a thief in the night didn’t happen as he returned in broad daylight around 9am. The video shows the man returning to the scene of his theft – asking the owners if they had seen his phone.
“‘I lost my cell phone last night,’ the man could be heard saying on camera.

Kymberli’s husband told the man they hadn’t seen the phone, then he walked away.
“We won’t catch him, I promise you that,” Kymberli’s husband gently told the man.
Kymberli said the porch hacker took several items, but when she saw him on the doorbell camera, she told him to bring his things to her or the police would be called. Kymberli said her husband was able to retrieve a pumpkin decoration – but everything else was still missing.
She posted the video on Nextdoor and people couldn’t believe what they were seeing. Several even commented on the crazy scenario.
“I would have asked for his name and another number in case he showed up and gave it to the police,” one person wrote.
“Your cell phone for my stuff you stole,” another person wrote.
The owners couldn’t find a phone – but Kymberli said the couple moved the remaining items from their porch so something like this wouldn’t happen again.
Kymberli said police were aware of the incident, but she said nothing could be done without the man being identified.
