At the end of a week that included Prime Day and Nordstrom’s Anniversary Sale, it’s easy to forget that the state of sales is great on the rest of the internet as well. Below we’ve found a bunch of deep discounts at Madewell, West Elm and Adidas. We’ve also included some favorites from the Nordstrom event in case you haven’t had a chance to pick it up yet.
Nordstrom’s Anniversary Sale is finally open to everyone with deals for the whole family. Luckily, plenty of discounts apply to Strategist-approved items, including Madewell’s incredibly practical (and stylish) work bag, used by our editors and contributors. Graphic designer Meagan Sapashe calls it “literally the perfect stand” because it’s big enough to fit all of her daily necessities without being too bulky.
We also spotted Dansko’s timeless clogs, which we learned are “so popular with healthcare professionals and restaurant workers that they’re part of the uniform.” Strategist writer Lauren Ro bought her own pair when she was eight months pregnant and desperate for comfortable shoes. Not only did they resolve her foot pain, but she also appreciated the extra lift the heel gave her.
When we asked stylish men about their favorite underwear, boxers from Calvin Klein were unsurprisingly mentioned time and time again. Their solid reputation usually comes with a higher price tag, so it’s always a pleasure to find some on sale.
In the past, we called the Moccamaster the “Rolls-Royce of drip coffee makers”. As well as looking beautiful and having a smart plate under the coffee maker that keeps the coffee hot, it brews pretty well too: “I taste coffee from all types of brewers, and this one makes an ever better cup “, says Jim Munson, the founder and president of Brooklyn roasting company.
There are also plenty of great finds in J.Crew’s End of Season Sale. Using code BIGGERSALE will unlock up to an additional 70% off already discounted designs such as this slightly warmer tank top for summer nights…
…and these seersucker swim shorts to take you from the beach to the bar.
Target is taking up to 25% off college essentials. Luckily, that includes these stylish noise-canceling Beats headphones, now available at the lowest price we’ve ever seen.
Writer Rachel Charlene Lewis told us she uses this sub-$100 desk at home. She likes it “because it has drawers, so you can hide the extra papers and the kind of nonsense that accumulates on your desk”, and because of the “nice open surface” which allows it to organize her supplies and decor in a way that lifts her mood.
The sale also applies to iconic graphic cushions from Justina Blakeney’s Strategist-approved Jungalow line.
This also applies to satin sheets which made it into our carefully vetted guide to the 20 best sheets available today. Made from 100% cotton, the 400-thread-count sheets are wrinkle-, pill-, and shrink-resistant for easy care.
While Prime Day is officially over, a number of deep discounts (on great products) are still in effect at Amazon, including this razor that barbers have told us is the best at what it does. “It shaves as close as a safety razor without that scratchy feeling,” says Grooming Shop Founder Chad Beightol.
Garmin’s Vivoactive 4S GPS smartwatch – the same long-distance runner (and former strategist writer) Karen Iorio Adelson uses every day – is almost 40% off. Besides “excelling what every other fitness tracker in its class can do,” from tracking steps to climbing stairs, sleep stats, heart rate, and pulse oximetry, Adelson likes that you can download apps like Uber, Spotify and Strava to the watch and program it to make contactless payments.
JBL’s Clip range of speakers are a favorite of Strategist staff for everything from bike rides to shower sessions to picnics. It’s still on sale after Prime Day at the lowest price we’ve ever seen, so don’t delay.
Until tomorrow, Adidas is taking an additional 25-30% off already-sale items with code SCOREBIG. Included are his premium Ultraboost sneakers, which have been recommended to us many times. Caitlin Carlson, former associate editor of Equinox’s Further, says they “actually feel like clouds on your feet, and I’ve never felt faster.”
These cheaper Adidas shoes also come highly recommended: One travel blogger told us the Cloudfoam line is her go-to for all trips because the shoes are “super light and breathable.”
For the biggest discount of the day, Madewell is running a “$50 Jeans” promotion that has discounted select styles by over 60%. Like this ’90s-inspired high-rise pair made from Italian cotton and pre-washed to be soft from day one.
For fall, we love this slimmer black pair, which has an unfinished hem for a more distressed look.
Finally, for those already excited for fall, West Elm is offering early discounts on classic products in especially autumnal tones, including this version of its best-selling waffle throw…
…and a few matching pillowcases to match it.
