Xbox and Adidas have teamed up to create a series of sneakers designed to celebrate the console brand’s 20th anniversary.

The first design to be revealed, the Xbox 20th Tech Forum, features “translucent green details inspired by the special edition of the original Xbox console for the launch of Halo: Combat Evolved in 2001”.

Xbox Consumer Products Marketing Manager James Monosmith noted more sneakers inspired by generations of Xbox consoles past and present will be released over the next few months, “including the very first sneaker available for purchase by our fans later this year.”

The partnership’s launch trailer celebrates skateboarding culture, “the most prevalent era of gaming when we launched the first Xbox console,” he added.

Details of Xbox’s collaboration with Adidas were leaked in May. At the time, the documents obtained by Complex suggested that the first sneakers to be released would be a promo version of the Tech Boost Forum.

These would be followed by two pairs of Adidas Forum Mid sneakers and the release of Forum Tech in November, it was claimed.

Sony and Nike confirmed a collaboration in May that saw the pair team up with basketball star Paul George to create basketball sneakers based on the PS5 design.
